through mechanisation of the mines
- The State will promote exports of processed granite/
marble
- In order to ensure systematic and mechanised mining , the
State would allot granite/marble leases after proper delineation of the plots
- The minimum size of plots was increased to 2.25 hectares
.An individual or company could hold 5 such plots
- Preferential allotment to entrepreneurs who install
Processing Plants, Export Oriented Units and to units promoted by RIICO/BIP or recommended
by a committee set by the Government.
The Policy for Dimensional Stones
- In 1980 the size of mining leases was 10 hectares. This
was reduced to 5 hectares after the notification of the Environment Protection Act of 1986
- For sandstone mines near Bijoliya and Jodhpur , quarry
licenses are for a maximum size of 60m x 30m. 5 hectare plots are given on lease in most
other areas except Bundi where the size is 1 hectare . Following a judgement of the
Rajasthan High Court, the minimum area for sandstone mines on Khatedari lands is 4 hectare
- Leases for flaggy limestone are granted by auctioning 5
hectare size plots . This is primarily in Kotah and Jhalawar districts. Small licenses
have been granted in Chittorgarh district
